The safety and wellbeing of our residents, visitors, and staff is our utmost priority. Karuna Care London is developing a rigorous safeguarding framework in line with the Care Act 2014 and Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidance on protecting adults. This means we will have clear measures to prevent abuse or harm, and strong procedures to respond effectively if concerns arise. We have created comprehensive safeguarding policies – including those for abuse prevention, whistleblowing, and incident reporting – to guide our team in keeping everyone safe. All staff members will receive training in safeguarding adults, so they can recognise the signs of abuse or neglect and know exactly how to act on any concerns.
We are committed to maintaining an open and transparent environment where anyone can voice concerns without fear. Our whistleblowing policy will encourage staff to report any misconduct or safety issues internally, with assurance that their concerns will be taken seriously and confidentially. Similarly, residents and their families will be informed (in welcome packs and notices) about how to raise any safeguarding concern or complaint. We provide easy-to-follow reporting routes – for example, residents can speak to any staff member they trust, or contact the manager directly, and family members will have management contact details for reporting issues. When a safeguarding concern is reported, our designated Safeguarding Lead will immediately investigate and take appropriate action. This includes documenting the incident, taking steps to protect those involved, and notifying the relevant authorities. In line with local safeguarding protocols, we will promptly report serious concerns to Hillingdon Council’s safeguarding team and to the CQC when required. By having a clear reporting process that is accessible to all, we ensure that any sign of risk is addressed swiftly and in accordance with the law. Our approach to safeguarding is proactive, constantly reviewed, and reinforced through regular staff refresher training and adherence to the latest adult protection guidance.
