Karuna Care London

Residential Care at Karuna Care London

Karuna Care London is developing a high-quality, community-based residential environment designed to offer adults a safe, supportive and thoughtfully structured place to live. Our building has received full Su Generis planning approval from the London Borough of Hillingdon. In addition, the property holds all required safety and compliance certifications.

Karuna Care London is currently in the process of applying for Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration to deliver regulated activities. While we complete this formal process, we are continuing to prepare the service, strengthen our governance frameworks, and ensure that all operational systems align with the high standards expected of a regulated care provider. Once registration is granted, the service will begin offering personal care and residential support as defined under the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

We are committed to provide a warm, person-centred, and inclusive home where individuals receive the right level of support while maintaining independence, dignity and choice. The residence has been designed to provide a calm, comfortable and accessible environment, with private rooms, communal living areas, and outdoor space that promotes wellbeing and day-to-day enjoyment.

Our residential home has been purposefully designed to offer a comfortable, well-equipped and thoughtfully arranged living environment. The accommodation consists of spacious bedrooms, all of them with en-suite facilities, allowing residents to enjoy privacy, dignity and personal choice. Each room is furnished to a high standard with a double bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet, 55-inch smart TV, refrigerator, sink with worktop, desk with chair and seating, but residents will be encouraged to personalise their spaces with photographs, decorations and meaningful belongings to create a familiar, homely atmosphere. Beyond private rooms, the property features warm and inviting communal areas, including a bright lounge for socialising and activities, a well-appointed kitchen and dining space, and a secure, accessible garden with seating and greenery for outdoor enjoyment. These facilities have been developed to promote comfort, independence and community living, ensuring that when the service becomes operational, residents will have both the tranquillity of their own space and the benefit of shared, vibrant communal areas.

Personalised Care Plans:

Every resident in our residential care home will have a personalised care plan tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and routines. Before admission, we will carry out a thorough care needs assessment to understand each person’s health conditions, mobility level, medication requirements, dietary needs, daily habits, and personal wishes. Using this information (in collaboration with the resident and their family), we will craft a detailed care plan that reflects their unique needs and aspirations – covering everything from preferred wake-up/bedtimes to favourite foods and hobbies. This plan will be a living document, reviewed and updated regularly to adapt to any changes in the resident’s condition or preferences. Our staff will be trained to know each resident as a person – not just in terms of medical needs but also their life history and what makes them comfortable. By delivering care according to these personalised plans, we ensure that each resident feels seen, heard, and respected. Importantly, care plans will also incorporate input from healthcare professionals (GPs, nurses, etc.) so that all medical and therapeutic needs are met seamlessly. This individualised approach means that whether a resident needs intensive support with most activities or just occasional guidance, their care will be tailored exactly to them.

Safe, Comfortable & Dignified Environment:

Karuna Care London will be a place where residents feel at home and well-cared-for. The facility will be designed to be warm and welcoming, with private bedrooms (with en-suite bathrooms) that residents can personalise with their own belongings and decorations. We will maintain a high standard of cleanliness and comfort, attending to laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance so that residents live in a pleasant space. Just as crucial, we uphold each resident’s dignity and privacy – care staff will always knock before entering rooms, address residents politely by their preferred names, and assist with personal care in a manner that preserves dignity.

Round-the-Clock Support:

Unlike assisted living, residential care provides continuous oversight. Trained care staff will be on-site 24/7 to respond to any needs or emergencies. This means residents will always be able to get help – whether it’s in the middle of the night or during early morning routines. We will have waking night staff and/or sleep-in staff such that someone is always available if a resident calls for assistance or if an alarm is triggered. Caregivers will assist with all activities of daily living: morning routines (helping residents get up, washed, and dressed), meal times (ensuring everyone eats and drinks according to their dietary requirements, with help feeding if needed), medication administration (administering and recording medicines at the right times), and evening care (helping prepare for bed). They will also provide continuous monitoring of residents’ well-being – for example, doing periodic checks overnight for those who are high-risk or unwell. This round-the-clock presence gives families and residents peace of mind that any issue – whether it’s a health concern, a fall, or even just anxiety or confusion – will be addressed immediately with caring support. Additionally, our staffing ratios will be planned to ensure quality care: enough caregivers on each shift to give attention to each resident without rush, plus access to registered nurses or other specialists as required (for example, on-call nursing support if we care for residents with complex health needs). Overall, the 24-hour support structure ensures the environment is not only secure but also responsive, maintaining residents’ comfort and safety at all times.

Social Interaction & Community:

Life in our residential care home will be rich with social opportunities and a sense of community. We understand that moving into a care home is a big transition, and maintaining a fulfilling social life is key to residents’ happiness. Our team will organise a variety of activities and events within the home to keep residents engaged. This will range from group activities like bingo, crafts, music therapy sessions, gentle exercise classes, or gardening in our outdoor areas, to one-on-one pastimes like reading, reminiscing, or puzzles – tailored to individual interests. We will also celebrate special occasions (birthdays, holidays, cultural festivals) to make life in the home festive and inclusive. Residents will be encouraged to socialise during meal times in a communal dining room, where they can enjoy conversation over nutritious home-cooked meals. We aim to cultivate a community where residents form friendships with each other – sharing stories and supporting one another like neighbours. Outings and external interactions will be part of the social programme as well: for example, supervised trips to local parks, cafes, or community events when feasible, and inviting local community members or entertainers into the home (such as musicians, pet therapy visits, or school children’s choirs) to keep residents connected to the wider community. Research and experience show that staying socially active has immense benefits for older adults – improving mood, cognitive function, and even physical health
