Karuna Care London

At Karuna Care London, we recognise that providing excellent care is a team effort that extends beyond our own staff. We are committed to collaborating with local health and social care professionals to ensure our residents receive comprehensive, holistic support. Once our service is fully approved and operational, we will actively engage with a variety of professionals in the community:

General Practitioners (GPs):

Each resident will either remain with their existing GP (if local) or register with a nearby GP practice upon moving in. We work closely with GPs for routine medical care, health check-ups, and management of chronic conditions. Our staff will facilitate GP visits to the home or virtual consultations when needed, and accompany residents to the GP surgery if they require an appointment there. By maintaining regular contact with doctors, we ensure medical issues are promptly addressed and medications are reviewed appropriately.

District Nurses and Community Health Services

For residents who have nursing needs (such as wound dressings, injections, or catheter care) but are in a residential care setting, we coordinate with the local district nursing team. These NHS nurses can visit our home to provide specific medical interventions. We will establish links with Hillingdon’s community nursing services so that any referrals for nursing care are seamless. Similarly, if residents require specialist health services like diabetic clinics, continence advisory services, or podiatry, we arrange for those professionals to visit or for residents to attend appointments, with our support.

Therapists (Physio, OT, etc.)

Many individuals benefit from ongoing therapy to maintain or improve their quality of life. We plan to collaborate with physiotherapists for residents who need mobility exercises, post-surgery rehab, or fall prevention routines. We will also engage occupational therapists (OTs) to help assess and improve residents’ ability to perform daily activities — for example, an OT might suggest adaptive equipment or techniques to help a resident regain independence in personal care tasks. If a resident has speech or swallowing difficulties, we will seek input from speech and language therapists (SALTs). Our approach is to incorporate therapeutic recommendations into daily care, effectively bringing clinical expertise into the home environment.

Mental Health Specialists

For residents with mental health conditions or emotional support needs, Karuna Care London will work in partnership with local mental health teams. This could include community psychiatric nurses, psychologists, or counsellors from Hillingdon’s adult mental health services or memory clinics (for those with dementia). If a resident is under the Care Programme Approach (CPA) or similar, we will participate in their CPA review meetings and ensure their care plan complements any psychological or psychiatric treatment they receive. We are also open to visits from or escorts to mental health day centres or therapy appointments. In cases where a resident may exhibit challenging behaviours, we will seek guidance from behaviour specialists or mental health professionals to develop effective support strategies. Our staff will be trained in de-escalation and understanding mental health needs, and this training will be enhanced by our collaboration with experts in the field.
